Take a tour of the New York State Capitol Building
Located one block west of Hilton Albany, in the Empire State Plaza, the State Capitol Building is the seat of New York’s government.  Call Visitor Assistance at (518)-474-2418 for tour times. Guided tours of the New York State Capitol Building are offered M-F, excepting holidays.

See a show at The Palace Theatre

Located within walking distance of Hilton Albany, this beautifully ornate theater seats up to 3,000 for electric performances. Built in 1931, the theater now holds concerts, shows, movies, and more, and is home to the Albany Symphony Orchestra.

Support local industry at the Farmers Market

The local economy gets a push each week at the Empire State Plaza. From May through October, the market is outdoors, hosted Wednesday and Friday from 10am-2pm. For the remaining months, it is held on Wednesdays from 11am-2pm only, and moved inside to the Empire State Plaza Concourse.

Cheer on local sports teams at Times Union Center
Albany is home to exciting sports year-round! In the winter, bundle up for a trip to the ice arena. The Albany Devils play at Times Union Center, and the NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute plays in Troy, NY. If you prefer warm weather sports watch the Tri-City ValleyCats, the affiliates of Major League Baseball’s Houston Astros. The ValleyCats step up to the plate in Troy, NY between June and September.

Whether you are touring campuses or curious to learn more about some of the country’s top universities, the Albany area is rich with higher education facilities. Relax in Washington Park
Three blocks northwest of Hilton Albany, past Lark Street. Between Madison Avenue and State Street.

The park is filled with 100 species of trees, including bonsais and enormous oaks. Don’t miss the lake house amphitheater, tennis courts, bike paths, and numerous statues and monuments. Washington Park is also host to the annual Tulip Festival each May, with over 100,000 blooming tulips.

Walk along Pearl Street
One block south of Hilton Albany.
Feel the pulse of the city as you make your way up and down Pearl Street. Lined with shops, restaurants, bars, Times Union Center, Ten Eyck Park and more, Pearl Street is Albany’s lifeline.

Explore the Corning Preserve
Go approximately five blocks east of Hilton Albany toward the Hudson River.
This bike and running path along the Hudson River offers terrific views and the adjacent Riverfront Park is often the site of concerts and other events.
